Armand Thomas Is Eligible; Richard Bluette
Transfers To Verbum Dei--(Feb. 26, 1999)

In our last preview on the Sylmar v. Crenshaw game we repeated what we had heard, namely that there was a rumor floating around that Armand Thomas (6'-9" Sr. C/PF) from of Crenshaw "might" be ineligible; we also reported that we hadn't seen him play in some time, and that was true, we hadn't.   Well, it turns out that the rumor about Armand having an eligibility problem was just that, a rumor and a bad one at that.  We spoke with the Athletic Director's Office at Crenshaw who reported to us that more than a few people were also circulating the same rumor, and she wanted to put it to rest.  According to officials at Crenshaw, Armand is indeed elgible.

Of course, Armand played in the Crenshaw v. Sylmar game, and he will be playing tomorrow night in the semifinal game at LA Southwest College where Crenshaw will take on Manual Arts.

Our preview also listed Richard Bluette as a member of the Crenshaw Cougar team.  Well, we were also informed today by the Crenshaw AD that Richard transferred about two weeks ago to Verbum Dei.  We haven't been able to speak to anyone over at Verbum Dei about the transfer, and we therefore don't know if Richard has been or will be playing on the team this season.  Of course Verbum Dei is in action tonight at Boron High School where they will take on Mojave in one of two Southern Section semifinals scheduled for this evening.

We certainly regret if anyone took our passing on a rumor as though it was "fact,"  but when we hear things which come from sources who we believe to be reliable, we post them up.  That's not to say that they are in fact always 100% reliable, and in the case of a players elgibility, either he is or he isn't, and nothing we say about it one way or the other is going to change what the facts are.   But in this instance, we just wanted everyone to know that Armand Thomas is indeed eligible and will be playing tomorrow night.
