CIF SS Playoffs: Division IV-A Quarterfinal
Round Game Results & Details--(Feb. 25, 1999)

Here are the rest of the results from Division IV-A's Tuesday night games. We've already posted the scores but here they are again, together with the results, such as we've been able to find them, and it's not been easy. The Semifinal games are scheduled for Friday, February 26.  Mojave will host Verbum Dei at Boron High School at 7:30 p.m. while Crossroads will host Santa Maria St. Joseph at West LA College at 7:30 p.m.

Verbum Dei 66, Orange Lutheran 46
Mojave 56, Calvary Chapel 54

St. Joseph Santa Maria 59, Maranatha 54

Upper Bracket

Los Angeles Verbum Dei 66, Orange Lutheran 46--Verbum Dei went on a 15-0 run in the first and took a 34-22 lead at the half. Marlon Parmer and Dalron Johnson each scored 18 points for the Eagles (22-7). Jason Whieldon scored 23 to lead host Orange Lutheran (15-11). Robert Watkins of Verbum scored 4, Jones 8, Dalron Johnson 18, Marlon Parmer 18, Washum Dashiell 4, Larry Dean 2, Larry Davenport 2, Diggs 2, Ricardo Suazo 4, Nick Dodson 4.  Scorers for Orange Lutheran were Willey 2, Whieldon 23, Bristol 2, Salyer 7, Hath 2, and Kasha 10.  Verbum Dei broke out to a 21-5 first quarter lead and then follow3ed up with a 14-5 run in the third quarter.

Mojave 56, Calvary Chapel 54--Junior Joshua Sherman led Calvary Chapel (18-10) with 16 points and senior Jeremy Ampe scored a career-high 15 points, making five three-pointers.  Brett Young, the Eagles leading scorer, was held to eight points. Mojave (22-2) was led by David Johnson with 20 points. Scoring for Calvary Chael were Ampe 15, Pangan 10, Young 8, Welker 4, Lake 1, and Sherman 16.   Mojave's scoring was Williams 8, Davis 7, Cox 6, Satterfield 5, Johnson 20, McCormick 2, White 2, and Fulton 6.

Lower Bracket

St. Joseph Santa Maira 59, Maranatha 54--Matt Cova had 25 points and 10 assists as St. Joseph, 20-7, advanced in the IV-A playoffs. Jeff Groce added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ben Hamady scored 16 for Maranatha, while Eric Sorenson had 8, Bryan Pistole 8, Paul Mason 3, and David Newkirk had 21. In addition to Cova's 25, St. Joe's scoring was done by Jason Williams with 5, Brett Krausse with 9, Mike Draper 9, and Jeff Grace 11. St. Joseph is now 19-7 and will meet Crossroads in a semifinal game on Friday night. Maranatha ends its season with an 18-9 record.
