Upper Bracket

Bishop Montgomery 70, South Hills 49--  Derrick Craven scored a game-high 21 points and Errick Craven contributed 13 points as the Knights (23-4) won at South Hills. Gabriel Hughes tallied 10 points and Marvin Perez added nine for the Knights, who used a 25-6 burst in the third quarter to pull away. Bishop Montgomery advances to play Pomona in Friday's semifinals at Garey High School.

Pomona 76, Gladstone 70--We were not able to get any details on this game. Zero. Nada.  Except we know that Pomona won, and they will now meet Bishop Montgomer on Friday night at Garey High School.   Pomona won the coin toss and will be the home team.  If anyone else has the stats or the results of what happened here, let us know by sending an e-mail.

Lower Bracket

Alemany 72, Servite 59--Ted Ranzan had 18 points and Evan Friedl added 14 for host Servite (15-13). Alameny used a stifling full-courtt press to force 28 Servite turnovers and scored 12 points off of those turnovers, as Devin Montgomery scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Indians to the win. the Friars were led by Ted Ranzan who started in place of Curtis Bibolet who was sick and Ranzen dominated down low early in the game. He set up Evan Firedl, who scored nine of his 14 points in the first quarter, including a thre-pointer at the buzzer to give Servite a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.  But in the second, Montgomery and the rest of the Indian's defense took over, and Montgomery also hit consecutive three pointers to lead Alemany on a 6-1 run which led to a five point lead with 4:00 to play in the second quarter.  The defense then forced three consecutive Servite turnovers to cap a 10-3 run  and a 7 point lead at the half.  Montgomery started the second half with the same fire he had in the second quarter, scoring four consecutive points to give the Indians an 11 point lead with 6:430 remaining in the third, a lead they would stretch to as much as 17 before Servite scored again.  Andrew Moore gave Servite a biref spark of hope, making two free throws and a layup to cut the lead to 8, but it was not enough as Alemany advanced to the semifinal game against San Dimas on Friday night at College of the Canyons.  Alemany will be the host and selected the Alternate Site for the game.   Alemany's complete scoring was Bryson Atkins10, Pantoja 2, Goodman 2, Joseph 3, Nelson 2, Cline 2, Montgomery 22, Herrick 2, Maynoard 9, Kinlaw 10, and Clausen 10.   For Servite Hamilton scored 4, Friedl 14, Morris 3, Ranzan 16, Bibolet 7, Ponsford 9, Lizan 2, and Moore 4.

San Dimas 57, Brawley 49--Brawley scored just two points in the final 4:22 and San Dimas came away with a 57-49 victory in a CIF Division 3AA quarterfinal game Tuesday at Glendora High School. The Saints advance to play Mission Hills Alemany in the semifinals Friday at an alternate site of Alemany's choosing. Brawley found out that the Saints had some pretty good players, but it was the visiting Wildcats who started out strong, taking a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.  But San Dimas came out in the second quarter and used a trapping defense that may not have resulted in
too many Brawley turnovers, but it nonetheless energized the second-seeded Saints. The Saints outscored Brawley 19-7 in the second quarter, taking the lead for good at 24-21 on David Malana's 3-pointer with 2:16 to play in the half. San Dimas' D.J. Hackett scored 16 points. But the Wildcats, champions of the Imperial Valley League, didn't fold. They cut the deficit to 35-33 with 5:00 left in the third on Lofton's short jumper. But Lofton was held to eight points after getting in early foul trouble. In the fourth, Brawley made one last run. The Wildcats closed to 50-47 on two Darnell Washington free throws with 4:22 to play. But San Dimas' defense stymied Brawley down the stretch. And Josh Smith (12 points) came through by making 3-of-4 free throws on one-and-one situations in the final minute. But it was Smith's rebounding that stole the show, as he grabbed 17 boards. Malana added 11 points for San Dimas, while Burnett led Brawley with 16 points while Hurlis Atchison added 10 points and nine rebounds (but only one point in the second half). BRAWLEY (49) Estrada 6, Burnett 16, Atchison 10, Lofton 8, Washington 6, Williams 3. SAN DIMAS (57) Malana 11, Greenlee 6, Smith 12, D. Hackett 16, R. Hackett 2, Williams 10. Brawley 17 7 13 12 -- 49 San Dimas 12 19 12 14 -- 57 Total fouls: B 16, SD 16. Fouled out: Williams (SD). Technical fouls: None.
