A Best In The West Update:
High Scoring Corrections--(Jan. 4, 1999)
We inadvertently left off one of the better scoring players from our list of tournament leaders. Scottie Stern (6'-5" Jr. SG/SF) who recently transferred to Los Angeles High from Fairfax, and who also plays for with the Los Angeles Rockfish during the off-season, was not listed in the group of statistical leaders we published on Thursday. Our mistake. We rechecked the leader totals and found the following for Scottie's performances:
1st game --11 points, 9 rebounds,
4 assists
2nd game--20 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists
3rd game-- 26 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists
4th game-- 33 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists
The difference in the report we had for his last game (we reported 31 points) was because the official scorer inadvertently gave LA's Michael Hills two points; however Michael didn't play in the tournament, and those two points belonged to Scottie instead. So the correct scoring should be 33 points.
Stern averaged 22.5 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, and 5.5 assists per game.
Not bad.
