George Wrighster Recruiting Update--(Jan 20, 1999)
We talked with George and his dad last night at the Buckley game against Holy Martyrs. George attended Buckley for two years before transferring to Sylmar, and in his case the transfer was for obvious reasons: George is principally a football player and needed the exposure. Of course he's also quite a basketball player, but that may only last through the end of this season. George has apparently narrowed his choices to three schools, UCLA, Arizona and Florida State, although there may yet be another school involved. He wanted to play both football and basketball, and while it's still too early to tell if he might be the next Todd Ramasar, the chances aren't that high. Still, he'll be making a living on Sundays for years to come playing with an oblong spheroid, after getting a four year paid education, so don't feel too bad for him even if he doesn't get the chance to play D-I hoops.
