Southern Section & City Section
Games Today & Tonight--(Jan 29, 1999)

Friday afternoon & evening is always big in SoCal for hoops, especially with the playoff races heating up.  Here's what we know about the games scheduled today/tonight.  For City Section, the earlier times are all for JV games.

As always, the following caveat applies:   Before going out to a game, verify the location and the time.  Check the papers; call the school or  ask a friend.  If you go and the game turns out to be a different time, or at a different location, or not there at all, don't blame us.   We don't want to hear any whining or sniveling. Consider yourselves warned:   The CIF Media guide and the daily papers that use them are notoriously wrong on occasion.  We try to verify, but don't, don't,  don't come crawling back telling us we were wrong.  We weren't.  The CIF was.  So be forewarned.

Now, having said that, the games we'd see, if we could would be in about fifty places at once would be: Fairfax (Joe Shipp, Stan Thorne, Jason Morrissette) v. L.A. (ex-Fairfax player Scottie Stern);  Venice v. Westchester; Grant  (Gilbert Arenas) v. North Hollywood; and maybe Sylmar v. Canoga Park. Of course, several of these games are played simultaneously, so you'll have to choose.   Here's the City Section Boys' Basketball Games for Friday 1/19/99:

In the Southern Section, there are far more games to see, and they are spread out all over SoCal. Again, the times, locations and even the games themselves come directly from the Southern Section media guide or from local papers.  Don't blame us if they're wrong.  We won't even try to do a "best of" list for these games.  The season is getting short.  You know who you want to see.  Get out and go to a game.  Now.
