Crossroads Beats Defending
State Champs Pacific Hills--(Jan. 14, 1999)
This report was sent to us by a friend who evidently read our request for correspondent reports, and who attended the Pacific Hills v. Crossroads game on Tuesday night at Pacific Hills. Here's the report:
Per your request here is an update on a game that I attended Tuesday night at Pacific Hills. It was contest between Crossroads and Pacific Hills. As a result of Crossroads not losing a league game in 4 and half seasons, some of the teams they face are a little testy and resolved to end that run. Pacific Hills definitely falls into that category, as they showed up with their requisite frowns and game faces. They have a very talented team led by a highly skilled offensive player in Ryan Abrams and they will certainly be heard from in the Division V Playoffs this year as they are defending champions. However, this was not the night for Crossroads to relinquish its stranglehold on the Delphic League. In spite of a fine performance by Ryan (28 points) Crossroads prevailed 78 - 66. Officiating notwithstanding, it was a very well played and exciting game, which I am sure will set-up an equally exciting contest when they meet January 29th @ West LA College.
Crossroads, was lead by Devrin Anderson (25 points, (6) 3-pointers) and Chad Gordon (20 points), Misha Taylor (10 points). Crossroads is finally at full strength, with Misha Taylor back and everyone returning to their natural positions. Devrin Anderson, was easily the star of the contest with his fine 2nd half defense on Ryan Abrams and his knocking down trey after trey in a crucial 3 minute period in the 4th Quarter, breaking open a contest that was back and forth the whole game. Pacific Hills held a 9 point lead at half-time, which in a large part was due to some questionable whistle blowing that resulted in their entire front-line sitting out the whole 2nd Quarter.
Hey, that was sort of an abrupt end to a pretty good report but then it sounds like this was a pretty good game even if the score got a little lopsided at the end.
